Law Firm Partners
If you are a law firm partner in the US, Europe or Asia looking for impartial, informed and completely confidential advice on the career options available, and their respective merits, please call us at any time. If you are just beginning to contemplate a lateral move, or simply want to learn more about the state of the legal market today, please do not hesitate to call us, as we are always happy to share our thoughts with you in a confidential, no-pressure environment.
Many of us are former practicing lawyers ourselves, and we all understand the full range of issues that inevitably impact your decision-making and are well-positioned to give useful substantive input on where and why you should move (or not, as the case may be). A high proportion of the people who work with us have come from direct personal referrals, as we are highly regarded for our integrity and market knowledge. We also welcome the chance to answer any new enquiries.
We have an exceptional understanding of the US and international legal markets. On a weekly basis our partner search team meets with AmLaw firm leaders and an array of smaller firms across the US to discuss their lateral partner needs. We also meet other partners and teams going through the same process you are considering. The recruiters at Mlegal have a unique understanding of how one law firm differs from another locally, nationally and internationally, including an understanding of individuals, culture, management, practices, compensation structures, client base and other law firm differentiators. If you are thinking about changing law firms, we will sit down and discuss with you in detail your background, current practice and career interests in order to guide you to the best opportunities that fit your personality, practice needs, and compensation goals.
We are committed to building long-term relationships with law firm partners who may not be actively seeking to move right now. If you fit into this category and would like to talk to us on an ongoing basis about the market and the options that may work best for you in the future we would be delighted to hear from you.
If you are contemplating a move internationally, you will see from our bios that the recruiters at Mlegal are uniquely positioned to advise you on options in the United States, Europe, Canada and Asia.
If you are a senior law-firm associate or counsel who wonders whether you might be able to make partner more easily at a different firm, and you would like to learn more about your options, please feel free to give us a call. We will be happy to discuss your options, the job market generally and give you the benefit of our market knowledge in assessing whether a lateral law-firm move might indeed be the next logical step in the progression of your career.
Current and Aspiring In-House Attorneys
Whether you are already in-house and looking for that next great upward step, or you are a law-firm attorney considering a move in-house, we are happy to provide impartial and completely confidential advice on the career options available and their respective merits. We pride ourselves on our honesty, responsiveness, reliability and, of course, ultimately on achieving successful results for you.
As former in-house attorneys who have gone on to cumulatively make hundreds of in-house corporate legal placements, our In-House Division has deep knowledge of the in-house legal market both in the US and abroad. We handle a large number of high-end in-house legal searches in many different jurisdictions.
Having been in your shoes, we are driven to find the perfect fit between you and potential in-house employers. It may be that we currently have one or more in-house positions that could be fits for you. In many cases, particularly as you move up closer to the apex of the legal-department leadership pyramid — the General Counsel position (or its equivalent) — the overall number of available positions will naturally shrink. Such executive-level in-house searches can require more patience and a longer-term search strategy, which we are happy to discuss with you in more detail.
In-house positions tend to be filled fairly quickly. Thus, it is to your benefit if we know you and the types of in-house legal positions that interest you, so we can keep you on our radar for all appropriate positions. That way, we can quickly alert you about new appropriate in-house openings so that you are one of the earliest candidates to be submitted.
We are also committed to building long-term relationships with current and aspiring in-house lawyers who may not be actively seeking to move right now. If you fit into this category and would like to talk to us on an ongoing basis about the market and the options that may work best for you in the future, we would be delighted to hear from you.
